Antwerp, Host City of the Western European Platform of the Erasmus Student Network
Antwerp is the host city of the Western European Platform (WEP) of the Erasmus Student Network from the 17th until the 20th of November 2016. This platform gathers student representatives of 8 different Western European countries to come together and discuss matters concerning international student exchanges, sharing knowledge about youth volunteering and managing a youth organisation in an multicultural environment. The event is one of the five Regional Platforms organised every year by the Erasmus student Network (ESN).
This year ESN Antwerp, supported by ESN Belgium, will organise the Western European Platform. Antwerp will host more than 160 participants, 20 trainers and 20 volunteers from more than 19 countries, mostly from Western Europe. There will be trainers joining from all over Europe including Poland, Serbia, Portugal,...
Student Representatives of the local associations of these countries come together to work on projects that will be implemented all over Europe, as well as to follow workshops and exchange best practices concerning international student mobility. A central aspect of the WEP will be the Mobility Fair, where the participants and local students of Antwerp will have the possibility to explore the opportunities to study or work abroad in Europe and beyond.
With more than 25 years of experience, ESN is the largest student organisation in Europe actively involved in the fields of youth mobility and student exchange. The organisation contributes to the construction of an active and dynamic academic environment by supporting and developing academic mobility and the creation of better job prospects for the youth. The Erasmus Student Network currently consists of 39 countries and 525 local sections, of which 16 associations are vested in Belgium. These associations offer their services to around 10.000 international students in Belgium every year.
With its central location and international and student friendly atmosphere, Antwerp is the perfect city to host this international student conference.
Hereby we would like to invite you to our official opening ceremony, which will take place at the 8th floor of MAS on Thursday the 17th of November 2016 at 7 pm.
